Announcement of New Executive Director

Governor Jay Inslee appointed David Trujillo, CPA as the Executive Director of the Washington State Board of Accountancy effective April 1, 2021.

New Board Member Appointment

The Governor has appointed Brooke Stegmeier, CPA as the newest member of the Washington State Board of Accountancy beginning on June 10, 2020, replacing the seat being vacated by long serving Board Member, Thomas Neill, CPA.  Brooke provides a unique perspective derived from her experience in the health care industry. This experience includes dealing with mergers, acquisitions, bond financing, capital projects, and budgeting and forecasting. She has also lead teams working through reorganizations, reductions in force, EMR and accounting system integrations.

Farewell to Outgoing Board Member

It is with heartfelt thanks that we mark the end of Tom Neill’s service to the Board of nearly a decade.  Tom has been a studied and august voice in the Board’s deliberations.  He has a great consideration for public protection, high personal standards, and his passion is evidenced by his vast and ongoing involvement with NASBA and AICPA committees grappling with the hardest issues facing the profession.  To simply express gratitude seems insufficient in this moment, but transitions often leave us at a loss for words as we consider all that has transpired.

Thank you Tom!

Meeting Update

We greatly appreciate everything people are doing to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus.  Starting March 16, 2020, we are directing that in-person group meetings be suspended for the immediate future and held instead via teleconference, Skype, etc.  This includes trainings, board meetings, and other group meetings.

Thank you for your continued efforts regarding this situation.

CPE Rule Changes Effective January 1, 2020

At the Public Rules Hearing held July 26, 2019, the Board approved changes to five rules and adopted one new rule. The purpose of the rule changes was to incorporate aspects of the Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA) CPE model rules and reorganize the CPE requirements between the various CPE rule sections for clarity. The rule changes are effective January 1, 2020.
